The role involves the following key outputs and accountabilities;
• Identify and manage reputational risk on behalf of Corporate Affairs by putting mitigating programmes in place
• Deliver on projects that will enhance or deliver on the business strategy.
• Through interpreting strategy, drive existing and potential issues that could impact business directives and outcomes.
• Manage risk assessment and highlight projects or issues that require re-engineering or refocusing.
• Research, establish, and manage complex communications issues.
• Liaise with key stakeholders across the Group as well as externally to establish contacts to obtain information, coordinate projects, clarify issues, make referrals, and process requests directed to interviews experts on potential issues, as well as gather information which will be shared through publications.
• Manage a number of diverse special projects simultaneously and meet deadlines on each to ensure accuracy and timeliness and effectiveness of assigned projects, and attention to details.
• Develop factually and technically accurate research data and materials.
• Work directly with highest levels of organisation management and with various functional heads to coordinate short term projects, which generate effective relations.
• Obtain information, coordinate projects, clarify issues, make referrals, and process requests directed through Corporate Affairs.
• Interviews experts on potential and existing issues, to gather information which will be shared through internal communication channels.
• Exercise judgment on a wide range of issues and projects that could impact the company or Group activities.
• Deliver benchmarked communication solutions in support of group issues
Who we're looking for
The following are required:
• Must have a solid understanding of the mining industry, legislative and government requirements of the extractive industry
• He or she must have at least 3-5 years mining of experience
• Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications and interpersonal relations skills in order to determine the most effective proposals and presentation materials to persuade management and staff to accept suggestions and proposals.
• Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
• Skill in writing for a variety of audiences to translate complex technical language and ideas into language easily comprehensible to non-specialists.
• Interpersonal skills to facilitate work with a wide range of individuals and groups from culturally diverse publics.
• Experience in conducting research projects and documenting findings.
• Skill in interviewing a variety of people and gathering and synthesizing information from many sources
