Based in Johannesburg,Danone Southern Africa is a leading multinational FMCG organisation globally, and are currently recruiting for an innovative and assertive Business Planning Manager to lead and drive the business planning team.
Role description
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the Finance Department and will have a strong link with Directors in the business (specifically Commercial and Marketing).

The Business Planning Manager will be responsible for four staff members in the business planning department and control the financials of two business units under Danone South Africa. This individual will need to be innovative and assertive as they need to both support and challenge top line functions from a financial point of view. The Business Planning Manager will build, analyse and make recommendations on business optimization/investment in consultation with other functions, as well as build and monitor budgets vs. actuals and communicate this information to the top line company.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Support of Management (GM and directors) in evaluating top line strategies from a financial standpoint
Issue recommendations of investment in the current business in order to maximize profitability.
Support the African Expansion (Exports) function with financial evaluations to aggressively increase profits.
Lead the financial evaluation of new product launches and business strategies.
Build the company budget and estimates.

Monthly animation of the profit and loss in comparison with budgets and estimates.
In conjunction with the Financial Controller, manage the monthly closing for the company for the two business units.
Working with the Financial Controller, manage the financial reporting to the group making sure deadlines are met.
Control and communicate the Commercial, Marketing & overheads spend.
Maintain a strong link with the zone business Controller.

We are searching for individuals with a strong strategic vision, a holistic view of the business and the ability to use innovative and creative thinking, in order to set up optimal cross-functional recommendations. The Business Planning Manager will need to be pro-active, energetic and be able to work autonomously. This role will require an individual who has strong interpersonal skills and who can challenge at all levels. This role would suit an ambitious individual who can drive for results.

The ideal candidate will have the following education, background and knowlegde:
A professional finance qualification or business degree
6 years relevant experience in an FMCG or Manufacturing environment
Have budget building and strong controlling experience.
Be technically astute, analytical and solution driven.
