CFO - Islamic Finance

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

• Implementation of a robust system of internal controls with financial disciplines and the subsequent monitoring through exception reports
• Responsible for the data integrity and monthly General Ledger reconciliations
• Production of monthly management accounts & variance reporting which will include the analysis of financial and management information to business unit
• Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations for the business unit cost centres
• Manage the production of the Annual Budget for the business unit to strict deadlines
• Preparation of financial presentations and Executive summaries including the CEO reports to EXCO
• Responsible for fixed assets register including reconciliations, additions, scrapping etc.
• Ad-hoc queries and requests
• Responsible for the production of a rolling Forecast
• Completion of required statutory returns (BA returns etc)
• HFM Reporting (BA reporting, Monthly & Year end reporting )
• Analyse/investigate SLA charges.
• Co-ordination and completion of Tax & Audit packs
• The preparation of ad-hoc Business Cases
• Assess and drive budgets/forecast results and ensure that they are in line with both the long-term and short-term business strategy and group parameters (I.e. reviewing the total financial plan and ensuring alignment with the Segments financial objectives).
• Relationship building and liaison with various people both internally and externally
• Compliance to Legislation, Company Policy and Good Business Practice
• Ensure an appropriate performance measurement framework exists to measure hurdle rates, capacity and productivity requirements

Who we're looking for
Experience & background
• Candidate should have a firm grip on the workings of a significant balance sheet, risk drivers and profit drivers
• Must understand both Credit asset and Liability management.
• Solid understanding of banking principles (margins, impairments etc)
• Experience in portfolio monitoring, reporting and management

Typical qualifications
• CA (SA) with 2- 5 years relevant experience in the banking industry or an Islamic Finance back ground. Knowledge of banking and reporting systems would be an advantage. Candidate with an Islamic background and knowledge of how Shariah Law is implemented in a banking environment will be seen as preferential.
