As an experienced sales professional, you must have strong experience in new business development and account management. The role is home based thus the candidate will have to be very autonomous and independent. You must be proactive and be able to manage the current distributor relationship. This role would encompass selling online information solutions into the academic, corporate, government and medical verticals. There is a focus on the Medical market so candidates with contacts in this vertical will be looked upon favourably. You will be expected to plan, organize and implement sales programs for the region. You will be expected to complete sales trip reports within three days of a face-to-face sales call as well as prepare and submit weekly projection and pipeline reports for the region. You must also prepare Account Plans for all Key Accounts and conduct sales calls, schedule promotional work and track sales activities on large complex accounts within the region. You should be able to do quotations, prepare proposals and provide information regarding terms of sales and delivery dates. As the Regional Sales manager, you will also participate in national and international trade shows, conferences and sales meetings.
Who we're looking for
In addition to requisite technical skills and background, personal characteristics and qualifications are likely to include:
4 years proven field selling experience in the region as described above
Preference for a person with business development experience (required for hospital and governmental market)
Proven ability to work independently
Skilled communicator with ability to communicate at all levels
Ability to compile persuasive arguments in line with customer situation
Have a deep understanding of selling complex solutions (contents, tools and services)
Fluent written and spoken English
Knowledge of Windows, Internet/WWW, sales automation databases
Medical and/or pharma background or a good understanding of these markets
Gauteng location is preferable but not an absolute necessity
Candidates from the scientific publishing arena are also a good match
Candidates who have sold journals or any academic resources will be considered
