Provide the Group central oversight in respect of the Traded Market Risk as undertaken, measured and managed in the group.
• Set Group minimum standards (metrics, controls and reporting) in respect of Traded Market Risk. Agree and propose risk appetite and Group-level limits.
• Ensure appropriate calibration of Group appetite, capital and stress scenarios in respect of Traded Market Risk by annually reviewing parameters in line with the Business Unit and Market indicators and giving feedback and guidance to stakeholders.
• Review and challenge the appropriateness of business level policies, metrics, controls, strategies and resources by matching the Group requirements to the Control framework of the actual Business Unit delivery
• Monitor and analyse internal and external traded market risk reports produced by the group and monitor adherence to Group limits and minimum standards.
• Conduct independent business reviews and conformance tests and request attestations from time to time towards providing assurance on compliance with and appropriateness of the market risk control framework.
• Report promptly all Group material exceptions/issues to the Head: Company Group Market Risk.
• Attend and provide inputs at the Trading Risk Committee, The group Valuation Governance Forum, and other committees as may be required.
• Periodically request a record of new traded product approvals, and where necessary review the associated market risk assessments completed by the group.
• Participate in regulatory and rating agency onsite reviews from a Group oversight perspective as required.
• Coordinate annual Group initiatives such as risk and required capability projections in line with business plans, risk appetite setting, Group-wide stress testing, etc.
• Coordinate, produce and ensure regular and appropriate risk, return, and capital and appetite utilisation reporting to Company Group Exco and Board subcommittees,Group Market Risk and rating agencies. Coordinate and ensure appropriate six-monthly public disclosures. Secure buy-in and sign-off by the Head: Company Group Market Risk and by the group stakeholders on all counts, whilst maintaining independence.
• Facilitate applications from the group Market Risk to the relevant Company Group Exco and Board subcommittees.
Who we're looking for
• NQF Level 7: Honours/Masters Degree
• Postgraduate degree with Risk, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting,
Economics, Actuarial, Commercial or similar content
• Qualified / part qualified market risk professional (e.g. GARP FRM, PRIMIA
PRM, ACT)
• At least 5 years post-graduate experience in financial services
• At least 3 - 5 years experience in risk management or related field
• At least 2 - 5 years experience in traded markets, market risk, equity
investments or investment banking
